Quilt for baby Max

December 13, 2008

I finally finished a quilt for my friend Camillia’s new baby, Max.  This is my third try to come up with a design I liked for them.  I wasn’t happy with the first two… I know I was being too picky, but I just couldn’t help it.  It’s tricky when you’re making something for someone you know so well.  I based this on old strippy quilts & a design by Denyse Schmidt called “Hop, Skip & Jump”.  I used a lot of vintage & upcycled cotton fabrics. I didn’t use a pattern, I just used my favorite free-form method.

Max’s room is blue & brown.  I had this quilt top almost finished when I felt like it was missing something, so I added the orange strip.  I debated between a few different colors before settling on the orange.  I love the way it turned out.

I think it was probably worth being picky, b/c the finished product came out so lovely. Is this your first blog post?

This quilt is even more adorable in person! I love the unique style and flare each of your quilts seem to have!
