Quilt for baby Kaydence

December 30, 2008

This fall, my friend Kristin had this beautiful little girl:

kaydence

I chose to do an all-pink quilt, made with lots of vintage and upcycled fabrics, including some neat textures like baby corduroy. I will lay out the squares differently next time, but it still turned out nicely. I am so glad she likes it!

Quilt for baby Max

December 13, 2008

I finally finished a quilt for my friend Camillia’s new baby, Max.  This is my third try to come up with a design I liked for them.  I wasn’t happy with the first two… I know I was being too picky, but I just couldn’t help it.  It’s tricky when you’re making something for someone you know so well.  I based this on old strippy quilts & a design by Denyse Schmidt called “Hop, Skip & Jump”.  I used a lot of vintage & upcycled cotton fabrics. I didn’t use a pattern, I just used my favorite free-form method.

Max’s room is blue & brown.  I had this quilt top almost finished when I felt like it was missing something, so I added the orange strip.  I debated between a few different colors before settling on the orange.  I love the way it turned out.
